Browsing and local search
Pages, images and scripts are served as static files by the website host. Search and filtering run in your browser against the site’s public article index. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you choose “Accept”. Before acceptance and after rejection, our code sends no Analytics requests. Advertising pixels, external fonts, embedded videos and a newsletter service are not loaded by this edition.
Optional Google Analytics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to measure page visits, provider clicks and valid VIN form submissions. We send only the page address without its query string or fragment, the page title and the provider name. Our explicit events do not include VINs, search text, email addresses or form values. Google may also collect technical browser and device information. Our configuration disables Google Signals and advertising personalization. Processing may involve transfers outside the EEA; see Google’s privacy policy.
Your cookie choice
Analytics cookies are configured to expire after at most 60 days without automatic renewal by our configuration. Your choice is stored locally in your browser for 180 days. Select Cookie settings in the footer to accept or reject Analytics. Rejecting after acceptance stops our measurement, deletes accessible Analytics cookies and reloads the page; it does not delete data already received by Google. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice lasts for the current page only. Data retention in Google’s reports depends on the existing Analytics property settings and is separate from the cookie lifetime.
Optional offer dialog
On a device with a mouse, an optional offer opens when the pointer leaves the top edge of the page, towards the browser controls. There is no waiting period or interaction requirement. It opens automatically at most once per page visit. Closing it or following its offer saves a first-party preference cookie, tvd-exit-offer-dismissed, for 30 days to prevent automatic reopening across pages and visits. The cookie is not used for analytics. You can also open the offer by selecting the price in the bottom banner. Touch devices do not trigger an automatic exit offer. You can close the dialog or continue browsing without accepting an offer.
VIN entries
Typing into the VIN field is processed in your browser for format checking. The five most recent valid VINs are kept only in this browser’s local storage for up to 30 days. Click the field to reuse one or choose Clear history to remove them. This history is not sent to our server or analytics. When you submit the form, the VIN and existing affiliate identifiers are sent to carVertical through its affiliate link in a separate tab. The provider and its network then process that request under their own policies. TopVINDecoder does not store a VIN database or provide a vehicle-history result in this edition.
External providers
Following an external provider or authority link leaves this site. The external service may receive request information, set cookies, require authentication or collect payment details. Its own privacy and purchase terms apply. Affiliate links are marked and described in our advertising disclosure.
Contact email
If you choose to email the published address, the message is handled by the relevant email services and the recipient. Send only information needed to explain the enquiry. Avoid identity documents, payment information and full vehicle reports containing another person’s data.
Hosting and technical requests
Cloudflare Pages hosts this website. Cloudflare processes technical request data to deliver and protect the website, including connection and request information. The availability and retention of technical logs depend on the hosting configuration; this notice does not claim a fixed period that has not been configured. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy. The local review server runs on the site owner’s device. Further changes to data collection require this notice to be updated.
